Caring for Your Bird(s) in the Fall

• Buy UV Lights: Sunlight is an essential part in the everyday life of a bird. Most birds are from tropical areas that receive ample sunlight that the birds love. The fall and winter months come with a decrease in daylight. You should purchase UV lights and have them on for at least 6 hours a day during the fall and winter months to keep them happy and healthy.

• Clean Your Furnace Air Filters: You are going to be using your furnace now that the cold weather is coming. That means that air will be constantly flowing through your vents and around your home. Your air can be full of dirt, dust, and allergens that can cause health problems for your bird. We recommend that you replace the air filter to ensure that your air quality is as good as possible.

• Move Them Away from Vents: Again, you will be using your furnace to heat your home. That heat comes out of the vents throughout your property. If a bird cage is located next to or too close to a vent, the bird can become too hot and dehydrated potentially causing it to pass away. Move them to an area away from vents.

• Buy a Humidifier: As we mentioned earlier, most birds are from and love tropical climates. Tropical climates tend to be warm and humid. Utilize a humidifier to keep the air in the room where the bird cage is comfortable.
