At Specialized Care for Avian & Exotic Pets, your pet will enjoy a quiet, calm atmosphere, complete with supervised playtime and out-of-cage time to keep them happy and enriched during their stay. And since we only treat birds and exotic animals, you can rest easy knowing that there won’t be any barking dogs or meowing cats to cause your pet unnecessary stress.
Our boarding room is located upstairs and on a separate floor from our main clinic area, away from any ill animals that may visit. The room has its own heating and cooling controls to maintain a consistent, comfortable environment year-round.
We’ve thoughtfully selected and outfitted our cages to accommodate a wide range of species—from large parrots like macaws to reptiles like chameleons. If you prefer, you're welcome to bring your pet’s own enclosure to help them feel more at home.
Need Medications Administered?
No problem! Our veterinarians and technicians are available to administer medications during your pet’s stay, ensuring each dose is given accurately and on time.
Schedule a Tour or Reserve a Spot
We invite you to contact us and schedule a tour of our exotic animal boarding facility at (716) 759-0144, ask questions, or reserve accommodations for your pet. We welcome pets throughout Niagara Falls, Buffalo, Lockport, Jamestown, Rochester, Batavia, Fredonia, NY; Erie, PA, and the surrounding communities. Our boarding spaces can be reserved for any length of time.
To secure the specific cage you want—whether it’s "Waldo’s Chameleon Canopy," "Chip’s Condo," "Hobo’s Hacienda," or "The Sahara Suite"—we recommend calling a few weeks in advance of your departure.
Boarding Services
We’re happy to offer a safe, comfortable, and caring environment for your pet while you're away. To ensure the best experience for both you and your pet, please review the following guidelines for our boarding services:
Food & Feeding
We require all pet owners to bring enough food to last the entire duration of their pet’s stay. We do not provide food for boarders. Each pet has their own individual cubby in our boarding room, keeping their food separate and clearly labeled.
We also offer:
- Refrigerator and freezer storage for perishable items
- Microwave access for warming meals as needed
Please label all food and instructions clearly.
Health Requirements
- All pets must have had a physical exam within the past year prior to boarding.
If your pet has been seen at another veterinary clinic, please provide medical records from that hospital before their stay. - All bird species are required to have been tested for chlamydiosis (also known as ornithosis, psittacosis, or parrot fever) within the past year.
This disease is primarily transmitted through inhalation of dust from droppings or feathers and can be spread even by birds that are not showing symptoms.
To protect all our avian boarders and minimize risk of transmission, this testing is mandatory.
If your bird tests positive for psittacosis, they may still board with us, but will be housed in our isolation area if other avian guests are present.
Payment
- All boarding stays must be prepaid at the time of drop-off.
- If your pet’s stay needs to be extended, additional days can be paid for when you return to pick up your pet.
Drop-Off & Pick-Up
We recommend allowing 20–30 minutes for both drop-off and pick-up to ensure a smooth check-in and set-up process for your pet.
Drop-off and pick-up hours are:
- Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
- Sunday: Closed (no drop-off or pick-up available)
